Raikkonen Looking to WRC career?

Kimi Raikkonen has admitted that he is thinking about a possible switch from Formula 1 to the World Rally Championship when his current deal with Ferrari runs out next season.

The Finn who will make his WRC debut this weekend in his own Abarth Grande Punto at the Rally Finland has previously competed in rallies three times in his home country.

Asked if he would concider a full time move to rallying he said: “Yeah, definitely. I am still in Formula 1 and I still have a one year contract, anything can happen after that.”

“Everything is open, but I always enjoy rallying. It’s nice be part of rally and to learn.”

Whatever the outcome, Raikkonen definitely plans to be racing for a long time saying “I’m too young to stop driving, so even if I do stop in F1, I have to do something else.”

He added “Maybe it’s Formula 1 in the future, it depends which way it goes. Rallying is in a position where nobody is sure where it will be in a few years. I’m not in a hurry. I have at least one year to make my mind up.”

There has been rumours circulating for some time that his heart isn’t in Formula 1 but he hit back at those claims saying “If I wasn’t interested in Formula 1, I wouldn’t be here, I’m still here. For the future, I’ve always said that I still have next year and during next year I’ll see different options and see what will happen in the future.”
